What a weekend! The Conference kicked off on Friday evening with readings by participants and panel members. Saturday and Sunday were devoted to workshops and panels, the former with Kwame Kwei Armah, Philip Graham, Thomas E. Kennedy, Nahid Rachlin, Jo Shapcott, Jeremy Sheldon, Mimi Schwartz, Susan Tiberghien, and Wallis Wilde Menozzi. Panels were peopled by David Applefield, Zeki Ergas, Laura Longrigg, DL Nelson, Bill Newlin, Alistair Scott and yours truly. Workshop leaders read on the Saturday evening. Meals were provided by the fantastic Gilles and his team. The weather stayed clement, and the Webster U campus buzzed with energy the whole weekend.
Some of the gifts I took away with me: writing against the soapbox; attending to voice and POV; daring to provoke, transgress; the honour in writing.
Susan Tiberghien and her terrific team did it again. Here’s to the 2010 GWC.
